10 July 2006	"9th International Computer Games Conference" Dublin, Ireland Website: http://www.comp.dit.ie/cgames/ The session is equally open to contributions on the aesthetics of games design and accessible games design that take an analytic or a more speculative approach. Contributions will be accepted based on originality and relevance to the theme and can be based around work in progress (deadline is 20th September 2006).
27 September 2005	We would like to draw your attention to the European Programme safer internet A link has been established especiall yto the Austrian Awareness Node Saferinternet.at The mission of Saferinternet.at is to empower citizens to use the Internet, as well as other information and communication technologies, safely and effectively. Saferinternet.at is the Austrian awareness node in the European Internet Safety Network (INSAFE). Saferinternet.at seeks to give children, youths, parents, teachers and other interested parties tips and support to highlight and avoid risks when using the Internet, while at the same time Saferinternet.at illustrates the positive aspects of Internet use. Saferinternet.at will implement an information campaign, provide information materials about safe use of the Internet, organise events and work closely with all Austrian projects in the area of safer Internet and the European Internet Safety network. The Austrian Institute for Applied Telecommunications (OIAT) is co-ordinator of Saferinternet.at. The Association of Austrian Internet Service Providers (ISPA) is consortium partner. Saferinternet.at co-operates intensely with public administrations, non-governmental organisations and businesses. Saferinternet.at is funded by the European Commission (Safer Internet Program), the Federal Chancellery, ministries and business sponsors.
19 September 2005	A giant leap in the field of media education has been done by the Russian Committee of the UNESCO Program "Information for All” and Russian Association for Film and Media Education with support of Administration Hanty-Mansijsk Autonomous Region and the Taganrog State Pedagogical Institute. The “Information for All” CD: “Media education. Media Pedagogic. Media Journalism” (2005) can be considered as the ideal support for all those who need to update their information and perfect their skills in the field of media education. This CD contains some contributions from eminent experts in media education, to name but a few: Cary Bazalgette, David Buckingham and Trygve Panhoff. This interesting resource will be distributed on a gratuitous basis to public, school and university libraries of the Russian Federation, state and public organizations working in sphere of culture, information, communications, education, and mass-media.
12 July 2005	The ECML project presents the Italian workshop on media and media education, which will take place at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, on October 31st 2005. Everyone interested in media education is welcome, there will be experts in the field, teachers, students, researchers, all with a flair for media. The idea that lies behind this event is to make people discuss and outline the potential of media education and its future in Italy. Will there be the possibility to teach it at school? 5 July 2005	The CSI is organising a national workshop on media comptences - e-learning - e-skills from the perspectives of pedagogy and economy (*"Fit für das digitale Zeitalter! Medienkompetenz und e-Skills aus pädagogischer und wirtschaftlicher Perspektive"). This event is going to be held on the 21st of October, 2005 in Vienna in German language. The invited international speakers (Tapio Varis - UNESCO Chair in Global e-Learning and Professor at the University of Tampere, Finland and Franz Gramlinger from CEDEFOP) will provide an international outreach, national experts will discuss in a panel and participants will have the opportunity to work together and exchange ideas in two paralell workshops: Media literacy in the pedagogical practice* and e-skills for the future professions. 8 February 2005	After several months of whispered news, the time has come to announce the forthcoming ECML Project event of the year: the "Media Skills and Competence Conference", on May 26-27, 2005. The Conference will take place in Tampere, Finland, and all partners will be glad to welcome all those who may be interested in exploring a bit more further the objectives attained by the project and discuss on media literacy advancements in recent years. Further details will be given as soon as they become available, until then, stay tuned!
